The School of Arts, Media, and Engineering at Arizona State University seeks a faculty member in Games and Esports. This position is open in rank and category (tenure track or career track faculty). The position begins with the Fall 2024 semester. The successful candidate will teach classes in games and esports and maintain a load of teaching, research, and service expectations as appropriate to the hire. Faculty can will also advise student projects, engage with departmental events, and support recruitment and retention initiatives. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. The candidate serves the Tempe campus and must reside or be willing to relocate to be able to teach in person.
The primary responsibilities for this position will be in the programs of the School of Arts, Media, and Engineering, a cross-disciplinary unit that advances technofluency – its development, application, and implication – as its mission. The School houses artists, designers, engineers, and humanities scholars to leverage emerging technologies for public impact. This is an opportunity to influence a growing and recent area of emphasis in the school curriculum.
Required qualifications:
- Masters or doctorate in game design, game development, esports management, or in a related area. International candidates must hold a terminal degree.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching.
- Experience in the game and/or esports industry.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.

- Two or more years of full-time teaching experience in higher education
- Experience teaching in-person and in digital environments (asynchronously and/or synchronously).
- Experience working in a collaborative environment and across disciplines.
- Demonstrated success meeting the needs of underrepresented students and/or diverse communities.
- Ability to mentor graduate students or advanced undergraduates in projects.
