Meet the director
A message from Pavan Turaga
Director of the School of Arts, Media and Engineering
Welcome to the School of Arts, Media and Engineering! We are glad you are here, and we are looking forward to presenting and teaching the latest technological tools at the heart of the content creation and media arts industry.
These tools and techniques include game engines, computational photography, motion capture, 3D modeling, digital sound, spatial audio, AR/VR, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
In addition to technical tools, we also provide a holistic perspective spanning applications in the performing arts, social embedded work, media studies and humanities, which together we refer to as technofluency.
We are a Tempe-based school with a growing presence in the Media and Immersive eXperience Center (MiX) in Mesa. We also have several concentrations in collaboration with many major colleges and schools at ASU, including the Fulton Schools of Engineering, The Design School and more.
Students trained in our program have the necessary background to create long-term careers in technical roles in the media industry — including the game industry, animation, esports and more. We also provide the necessary collaborative project creation experience to succeed in increasingly complex and fast-changing career roles of the future.
